Shut-off discs with bypass for pipe shut-off and tightness testing
Do you need a mechanical, dimensionally stable shut-off for a pipe? The shut-off disc with bypass, also called a test disc or blanking plate, closes the pipe from the face end and reliably withstands the pressure. At G. Drexl you get shut-off discs in sizes from 38 to 700 mm, suitable for all common pipe types. The integrated bypass bore is the decisive advantage: through it you carry out a pressure or tightness test in parallel with the shut-off, without removing the disc. All Made in Germany from our production in Bad Abbach since 1986, with free shipping within Germany.

What our customers say about us
On the independent review platform AUSGEZEICHNET.org, over 3,400 customers have rated us an average of 5.0 out of 5 stars. The reviews come from tradespeople, plumbing companies, industrial firms and municipal utilities, and every single review is verified for authenticity. When the shut-off disc is the right choice
Unlike a pneumatic shut-off bladder that inflates inside the pipe, the shut-off disc works purely mechanically. It is placed in front of the pipe opening or into a flange and provides a rigid, clearly defined seal. This is an advantage wherever a permanently dimensionally stable shut-off is required, or where a bladder would not be practical. Thanks to the bypass bore, the disc stays in place during a pressure test, with the test medium applied in a controlled way through the passage. This makes the shut-off disc particularly suitable for tightness testing to DIN EN 1610 and for testing tasks in new construction and rehabilitation. If you are looking for a flexible pneumatic solution instead of a rigid disc, you will find it among our shut-off bladders. For smaller lines, you will find separate pipe plugs, and for pure testing tasks our test bladders with bypass and the house connection test set EN 1610.
Shut-off discs for every pipe size
Our range extends from the compact 38 mm disc for small lines to the 700 mm disc for large sewers, so you find the right shut-off for every cross-section. All shut-off discs are designed for the common pipe types and feature the bypass bore for parallel testing. What matters for the selection is the inner diameter of your line. If you are unsure which disc fits your pipe, we are happy to advise you free of charge via our hotline.
Frequently asked questions about shut-off discs
What is a shut-off disc with bypass?
A shut-off disc is a mechanical, rigid shut-off placed in front of the pipe opening. The bypass bore lets you apply a test medium in parallel with the shut-off and thus carry out a pressure or tightness test without removing the disc.
How does a shut-off disc differ from a shut-off bladder?
The shut-off disc seals mechanically and rigidly by being placed in front of the pipe end. The shut-off bladder seals pneumatically by being inflated inside the pipe, adapting flexibly to the pipe wall. For dimensionally stable, defined seals, the disc is the right choice.
Which sizes are available?
Our shut-off discs with bypass are available in sizes from 38 to 700 mm and suitable for all common pipe types. For smaller lines, we offer separate pipe plugs.
Is the shut-off disc suitable for tightness testing to DIN EN 1610?
Yes. The bypass bore allows the test medium to be applied in a controlled way, so you can combine the shut-off and the tightness test in a single step.
