Every inspection task has its own requirements in terms of diameter, range and camera technology, which is why you never have to compromise when you buy from us. Our compact pipe cameras for diameters up to 150 mm are ideal for tight house connections and plumbing lines, while for larger sewer and utility channels the systems up to 350 mm and up to 500 mm are the right choice. When it comes to bends, branches and a clear view in all directions, our pan-and-tilt cameras offer decisive advantages. For long, expansive sewers, steerable crawler systems are available, as well as special high-pressure flushing cameras that can also be used during jetting.

Typical applications of pipe and sewer inspection

A pipe camera sheds light wherever pipes run underground or are embedded in masonry and are therefore not visible from the outside. An inspection camera lets you detect damage non-destructively and without unnecessary excavation, from root ingrowth, cracks and deposits to soil shifts, pipe breaks and stubborn blockages that can no longer be cleared with conventional methods. Our cameras also provide reliable service when locating problem areas, diagnosing damage prior to rehabilitation, or inspecting newly laid pipes. In addition to sewer and utility lines, they are used in industrial facilities and, with our special well and chimney cameras, in vertical shafts. This way you detect even the smallest changes early and act before a fine crack turns into costly damage.

Sewer CCTV inspection and standard-compliant condition assessment

Optical inspection with a camera is the recognized way to determine the structural condition of sewers and pipes. During a CCTV inspection, also called a TV survey, the camera head is guided through the line and its condition is recorded as image and video. Across Europe, the documentation follows EN 13508-2, which defines the coding system for optical inspection, often together with the DWA-M 149-2 code of practice. Our cameras support this condition assessment with the right functions: the on-screen meter counter locates every finding precisely, the digital video recorder captures it in an audit-proof way, and the data overlay adds your project details to the recording. This gives you a traceable basis for the subsequent rehabilitation planning.

Features of professional inspection cameras

Our cameras are designed as ready-to-use complete systems. A powerful LED light evenly illuminates the pipe section, while the image appears in color on an easy-to-read 8" or 8.4" monitor. Depending on the model, a self-leveling image keeps the picture upright at all times, an integrated digital video recorder (DVR) handles documentation onto a USB drive, and an electronic meter counter or on-screen meter display enables precise location of the findings. The Li-ion battery allows mobile use independent of a power outlet, and the camera head is waterproof up to 4 to 5 bar depending on the model. Individual systems such as the 9020 pan-and-tilt camera also offer Wi-Fi transmission and data overlay. On request, many cameras can be combined with a locating transmitter to pinpoint damage precisely from the surface.

What is a sewer CCTV inspection?

During a sewer CCTV inspection, also called a TV survey, a pipe or sewer camera is guided through the line to record and document its condition optically. The documentation usually follows EN 13508-2 and forms the basis for assessing damage and planning any rehabilitation.

Which pipe camera is suitable for which pipe diameter?

For smaller pipes from around 35 mm to 150 mm, our Mini 3000 series is the right choice. For medium-sized pipes from 50 mm, the 4540 and 4640 models are suitable, and for larger sewer and utility channels up to 500 mm, the 5040, 6030 and 8030 series. What is the difference between a push camera and a pan-and-tilt camera?

With a push camera, the lens is fixed facing forward. It is robust, compact and ideal for straight sections. A pan-and-tilt camera such as our 9020 has a rotating camera head that lets you look into branch lines, illuminate bends and inspect damage specifically from various angles.

What are the benefits of a self-leveling image?

Self-leveling keeps the image on the monitor upright at all times, even when the camera head rotates inside the pipe. This significantly improves spatial orientation and speeds up the assessment, especially during longer inspections.

What is the meter counter used for?

The electronic meter counter records how far the push cable has been fed into the pipe and displays the distance directly in the live image. This lets you document the exact position of a defect and locate it precisely later on.

Do I need a separate locating unit for damage detection?

The meter counter lets you determine the distance to the defect inside the pipe. For precise location from the ground surface, in other words to know exactly where excavation needs to take place, you also need a locating transmitter and a compatible locating receiver.
